Schliengen is located in the region of Markgräflerland, which is part of the” Dreiländereck”, one of Germany´s most beautiful regions where southwest Germany meets the border of France and Switzerland. It is also called “Germany´s Tuscany” due to its climate and landscape. Close by are the two beautiful and historic cities of Freiburg and Basel.
Our vineyards are nestled in the rolling hills that precede the mountains of the Black Forest. The warm soil is enriched with clay, sandstone, and valuable minerals.In our bio-dynamic approach to winemaking, we rely on our soil´s Natural nutrition, schedule our work in the vineyards by the lunar calendar, and treat our vines only with organic methods. This supports the vitality, health and natural energy of our vines and results in delicious wines of character. It´s also better for your health and well-being.
In the cellar the wine develops its character
What nature has created in the vineyards cannot be improved by technique. A careful handling of the grapes and a long resting time yeast give the wine time and peace to develope its character.
For our Sekt, we first carefully select the grapes and treat them by traditional” method champenoise” that requires the fermentation in the bottle.

For over a decade, the Winery Harteneck in Schliengen seeks to spread the joy of wine and life. With the knowledge of our forefathers and the philosophy of bio- dynamic winemaking, it is our duty to produce highest quality wines and to fulfill our own continuously increasing expectations for the quality of our wines.
For Thomas Harteneck, to be a vintner is not just a profession but a calling. He owes his energy and inspiration to his environment – the vineyards and his family – which bring out the best in him.
The passion for him lies in authenticity , harmony, sensitivity, and the many secrets he experiences every day in the vineyards and which you will find in our wines once you uncork them.
